You don't know how and why you came here.
You know one thing: In another universe you didn't click on the link and in that other universe this place is completely unknown to you.
Bot not in this universe, unfortunately.
"C-P-ONE", you think - is that some sort of code?
You look around. This road looks exactly like any other road in this country and it feels like your millionth visit.
The town sign screams at you with huge pink letters on a painting of a bright sunflower field.
[[Look at sign|Sign]]

"CHEESY TOWN
Capital of Niknak"
[[Turn around|Access road]]
(track: 'loop2', 'stop')
So this is the frontier between the civilized world and Cheesy Town.
You know a little bit about the strange things that can happen here but from this point of view it just looks like a normal little town with cute little houses that willingly present their colorful facades to everyone who likes colorful little facades.
One of the houses is different, though.
You realize that...
[[...the door is super small|small door]]
[[...the walls are painted dark grey|grey house]]
[[...there is smoke coming from the basement window|smoke]]
[[Pfff whatever, let's go to the town's center|center]]
You walk closer to the house.
And yes, the door is really really small, not higher than your knees.
[[look closer|small door closer]]
[[go around house]]
Indeed, the walls are grey as ash.
In any other town you wouldn't care.
But a house like this in Cheesy Town?
You decide to [[move on|Town Entry]]Is that smoke? Or maybe just a dust cloud?
You walk towards the window to take a closer look, but the basement is too dark.
[[inspect the door instead|small door closer]]
[[...|Town Entry]]
You bend down to inspect the tiny door.
It turns out to be an impressively accurate painting. The shadows are perfectly aligned to the position of the sun and you are easily convinced that the varnish on the door boards is brittle.
You decide to [[move on|Town Entry]] You walk around the house.
All you can see is [[grey walls|grey house]].
You stand on the marketplace, the center of Cheesy Town.
There's an [[old lady]] selling flowers.
And you see a bunch of [[Tourists]] looking at a map.
You see a [[Souvenirs shop]].
And a door that says "[[Tourist info]]"
Apart from that, there is nothing interesting to mention. Except, maybe, the [[ridicously pompous waterspout fountain|fountain]] in the middle of the town square.
Go to
[[North]]
[[East]]
[[South]]
[[West|Town Entry]]A fat lady waits at the counter while the shop owner sticks his buttocks in the air. He seems to search something...
"A-HA!", he shouts. He probably found something.
He came up, holding a souvenir in his hand. It was a particularly kitschy and shiny souvenir, you must admit.
And suddenly you want one.
You need one.
[[get one!]]The door is closed.
A sign says
"Back in 5 minutes"
[[Town square|center]] Well, this just looks like another disctrict of Cheesy Town.
There are not many houses here and behind a wooden fence a cow chews on some autumn crocus that appears to grow everywhere.
You see a big [[shrubbery]] on your left and a [[direction sign]] on your right.
You didn't notice the little [[lemonade spring]].You approach a fork in the road.
Right behind the tool the path splits in two parts.
[[go left|FLOWER FIELDS]]
[[go far left|GRAVEYARD]]
[[back to town square|center]] In this district Cheesy Town is really really boring.
[[go on|boring]]
[[back|center]] Yes, good idea!
Just leave. Right?
[[Take road to east|shrub]]The road just ends and your way is blocked by a huge shrubbery.
[[Try to walk through shrubbery|walkshrub]]
You can easily walk through the shrubs because it is less dense than it looked from outside.
[[Through the shrubs!|North]]
[[Back to road|Access road]]The fountain is as big as two african elephants on top of each other and has the diameter of three elephants.
However, the flow of water running down is a bit more than elephants can produce, so I'm not sure if I should stick to that analogy.
There is a memorial tablet near the base of the fountain.
It says "In memory of the fallen grandmas at CheckPoint One"
Three letters of the word "CheckPoint One" are actually buttons.
[[C]]
[[P]]
[[O|1]]
[[back|center]] "Welcumen", the old lady says "Hú meaht þú? Hwiðer eart þū fram?"
[["Gōdne mergen! Mé lícaþ þé tó métanne."|know]]
[["Pardon?"|notknow]]
[[`Turn 360 degrees and walk away`|center]]You walk to the small group of tourists. They look at that handdrawn map of Cheesy Town that you know from social media.
I mean, this town is famous for that map, right?
The tourists seem to be arguing...
"We should go to the cabin and sleep for a couple of days."
"No, Charles, that is counterproductive!"
"Madelaine says, we need more souvenirs because you can't have too many. Madelaine?"
"I want to see the flower fields again."
"I vote for shrubbery!"
Enter the [[Souvenirs shop]]
Go back to [[Town square|center]]
No, as I noted: you didn't notice the little lemonade spring.
[[please ignore it, too, and continue your visit|North]]While walking through the shrubs you notice some footprints in the dirt.
They could be your own but who knows? Maybe you're not the only one that uses this path.
You follow the steps until they end at a wooden hatch.
[[open hatch]]
[[move on|SignPath]]Oh, there's the sign you saw before...
[[...|Sign]][[>FLOWER FIELDS|FLOWER FIELDS]]
[[<North of town|North]]"Jaas jaas!", says the lady and shakes her head.
[[buy a flower|flower]]The old lady looks at you although you think she is blind. And suddenly very mute.
The pause is beginning to be awkward so you...
[[...walk away|center]]
[[...buy a flower|flower]]You pick one of the flowers and ask for the price.
The old lady is doing the sign of a Maneki-neko and then points to the flower.
[[give her the flower|give flower]]
[[put the flower back]]She takes the flower, removes some leaves... and eats it.
She stares right at you while she tries to swallow the more ligneous parts of the plant.
[[buy another flower|moreflower]]
[[walk away|center]] You put back the flower.
[[...|center]] You pick another flower and [[give it to the old lady|give flower]].Aaaah, the flower fields.
You've read about this in social media! It's awesome how yellow it is, compared to the rgb filtered images on smartphone screens.
A group of [[tourists|Tourists2]] is staring at the endless yellowness.
On the other side of the road you see a [[scarecrow|Scarecrow]].
There's a road to the [[south|East]]
and another one to the [[north|direction sign]].You tap a random tourist's shoulder.
He looks at you, starts to smile and shouts
"Madelaine! See who's here!"
Madelaine turns around, a huge person, greasy face, arms a little bit too long for an obese person.
Minutes later you find yourself in the tourist's [[cabin|Cabin]].You are in a room under the fountain.
You see a wall with a [[hole]] in it.
And theres another staircase that goes [[deeper]].
You walk down the [[stairs|cavern]].You carefully slip through the hole.
On the other side you find another room with [[spikes]] on the walls. You walk to one of the spiked walls and think of [[touching the spikes|trapped]].
But you now also notice the small [[cave]] entrance in the other wall. You walk down a long dark cave until you see some [[light|insidehatch]].
You touch the spikes, the wall spins around, takes you with it on a literal wallride and throws you to the [[ground|under the fountain]].You try to open the hatch, but it seems to be locked from inside.
[[...|SignPath]]You walk towards the light and after a few meters you find a [[ladder|go up]].
You [[climb|hatchshrub]] up the ladder. You climb out of the hatch and look around.
This is not very dense shrubbery, you think and start [[walking|shrubbery]] around.Yes! you solved it!
One of the statues that resembles an elephant tilts back and reveals a staircase.
I don't give you an option for going back, because now you must go [[down there|under the fountain]]..!
(track: 'loop1', 'stop')
[[P]]
[[1]][[C]]
[[1|1]][[C|C2]]
[[P]]You enter a large cavern with a long white [[brickwall]].
There's a [[ladder]] to your right.
You climb up the ladder and find yourself in a room with [[spiked|spikes]] walls.
You walk along the brickwall and the closer you get, the uglier it looks.
It seems as if it isn't you that gets closer but the wall is getting closer to you. And at the same time the image itself stays in the distance, like a wierd optical illusion.
At one point the wall seems to be behind you and a deep blue void surrounds you, as if you passed the bounds of one world and slip into another, the outer world.
Through the void you see another room that looks like a science lab.
You press [[W]]
You slip out of the outer world into the real world within one frame - speedrun strats!
You are in a science lab now. It was one, at least. A lot of time has passed since someone worked here. Thick layers of dust stick on countless lifeless instruments, which is sad, because by design these instruments want to be used.
You hear a sound.
Wait... was that... a [[baby]]??!
{
(track: 'loop2', 'loop', true)
(track: 'loop2', 'playwhenpossible')
}You exit the science lab and listen to the sound of a baby underneath Cheesy Town.
It means something. You DO [[care]].You get closer.
"YESS! You are here!"
"WE DID IT!"
"[[MADELAINE!|help]]"
"THIS IS THE MOMENT, CHARLES!"
"WE WAITED FOR IT FOR SOOO LONG!"
"YES"
"YES"
"WE NEED..."
"THE SOUVENIR!"
"DO YOU HAVE IT?"
"AND THEN... WE NEED YOU TO [[FORGET|forget]]"
You open your backpack and grab one of the souvenirs.
You hand it over to Madelaine.
She smiles.
"THANK YOU! OUR BABY NEEDS THAT!"
She steps aside and reveals a wooden cradle.
She takes the souvenir and drops it in the cradle.
You hear a metallic plopping noise.
"HAHA!", Charles does a laughing noise as if he is human
"OUR BABY NEEDS IT ALL THE TIME!"
"NOW MY DEAR, YOU NEED TO CLICK ON THE THING!"
Madelaine points to a huge thing that makes gurgling noises and looks around with eyes on sticks.
[[click on the thing]]
Did you click on it?
I can't remember, maybe you can...
Oh wait, what's that [[behind|Sign]] the tree?
[[C]]
[[P]]
[[solved the puzzle?|solved]] You drink [[earl grey|Drink tea]] and you listen to stories about how the cities have been a lot safer back in the day.And then Charles tells the story about the street gangs in his home town that terrorized the business of his mother when he was a child.
I know, everything is really boring. Welcome to Cheesy Town.
You start to think about how you got here and if this even makes any sense. Allright, let's make this short.
You finish your tea, you say goodbye, you [[leave|FLOWER FIELDS]].
Nothing suspicious.
[[back|FLOWER FIELDS]] You pass a boring house.
[[walk|moreboring]]You pass a boring tree.
[[walk|evenmoreboring]]
You pass a boring park.
[[walk|superboring]]
You pass a boring tentacle monster.
[[walk|megaboring]]You pass a boring pile of intelligent grey goo.
[[walk|ultraboring]]You pass a boring space ship with an alien sitting on top waving at you.
[[walk|center]] You push the fat lady aside and slam your hand on the counter as if you have a hundred bucks bill underneath it - but you don't.
"ONE HUNDRED BUCKS!"
The shop owner smiles, bows down and hands you the shiny souvenir.
You put it in your [[backpack]].You open your backpack to carefully store your precious souvenir and now you see [[...|backpack2]]
...that the backpack is full of souvenirs.
Dozens of shiny, kitschy souvenirs!
You drop your new souvenir in the bag, turn around and [[leave|center]] the shop without saying a word or looking at the shop owner. You see a cast-iron fence and a massive portal with forged letters that say
"Cheesy Town Graveyard ~ Buy Souvenirs"
On the other side of the fence you see not one single grave.
[[go back|East]] [[P|P2]]
[[1]][[C]]
[[1|11]]And then you must press [[JUMP]].
Careful, that is a pixel perfect jump.If you carfolly look to the [[LEFT]] now you see that pillar thingie there? It's a bit tricky, but you need to kinda [[strafe|instruments]] here and never lose contact to the level hitbox...loop1: ./EndlessWalkInCheesyTown.mp3
